What if

you could make a little extra cash selling a digital planner?

You can!

Learn How To

Build your planner using photoshop + Indesign

Part 1

In the first section of the workshop, I'll teach you how to map out your new digital planner design. We'll create an open-book style planner where it looks like the pages are flipping, just like a real paper planner. I'll show you how to make realistic coils and dividers as well as guide you with setting up your InDesign file so your tabs hyperlink properly. You'll have a fully functioning template that is easy to add patterns and change out colors so you can offer multiple styles of planners in your shop!

Learn How To

make inserts for your digital planner in indesign

Part 2

Using Adobe InDesign, I'll show you how to make a monthly calendar insert, a weekly dashboard layout, and three note styles. We'll go over Paragraph Styles so you can make edits to fonts in one quick swoop! And, I'll help you understand how to set up hyperlinks on your pages so you can set up linked calendars. With these skills, you'll be able to design any insert you want for your digital planner.

Master Stickers

Create stickers in adobe illustrator

Part 3

In the last section, I'll show you my entire process for how I create my digital stickers. Creating a branded style, we'll set up a template you can use over and over again in Adobe Illustrator. Then, I'll teach you my process for vectoring my illustrations, choosing color palettes, and completing your full set of stickers. I'll even show you how to make repeating patterns and quickly export your hundreds of stickers as individual PNGs.

And, in a bonus section, I’ll show you how I would set up my sticker files if I used a raster app like Adobe Photoshop (not Photoshop Elements) or Procreate. Coming soon to all enrollees: working with Affinity Design to make digital planner stickers.

Get both of my Photoshop and InDesign working files in this workshop so you can see how I set up my planner. Plus I'll give you links to anything I mention in my videos. And, I'll give you a set of free leather background textures to use for covers with a bonus video tutorial.

Learn the process I use with the GoodNotes app to set up sticker books for your customers so they have a quick way to select stickers. I will show you how I would use GoodNote 5 on the Desktop (Desktop only on Mac) and on the iPad to create sticker files for customers as a convenience.

Added Fall 2020: Using raster-based apps to set up your sticker files. I will show you how I use Adobe Photoshop and Procreate to set up my files. I won’t illustrate in these apps, but teach you the methods to produce your digital planner sticker output.

Common Questions

What equipment do I need to take this course?

You will need a desktop computer and the following software applications: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator. As a bonus, I do show you my renaming process using Adobe Bridge. This comes standard with the Adobe Creative Suite system. Also, as a bonus, I will cover how to use GoodNotes 4 and 5 on the desktop and on the iPad. GoodNotes desktop only works with Mac computers and you can no longer purchase version 4 for either the desktop or iPad. We have left this in for educational purposes only.

The raster-based sticker design bonus uses Adobe Photoshop (not Elements) or Procreate you can apply these techniques to raster-based applications.

Can’t I take this on my iPad?

No, we use Adobe Creative Suite software, and right now the full functionality is done on the computer. As a professional graphic artist, this is how I do my projects for clients and how we do our planners and stickers that we sell in the shop. Learning this software will help you gain some advances in design that others can’t!

There is a new bonus section on using Raster-based apps for sticker design and I will show how you can use Procreate for this.

Why do you close enrollment?

This assures that we can spend time working with students at or at about the same stage of their process in the workshop. It also allows us to use their questions to help us make updates and modifications to the workshop.

Is this course live?

No, this course has been recorded so you can take it at your own pace. You get access to all of the modules and downloads as soon as you complete your purchase. Start and stop whenever you need.

Is this workshop for beginners?

I ask that you have some technical savvy and understand things like how layers work. Understanding the basics of Adobe apps is helpful. If you are proficient with Procreate on your iPad you’ll probably do just fine with this course.

Can I ask you for help?

We use Slack for all of our support. Once you’ve completed your purchase you’ll notice the invite link to join our Private Slack Group is in each lesson. Use it to share images, ask questions, etc. We announce mini-updates in our Slack group as well.
