I’m No Silhouette Genius

Look, I have never claimed to be a Silhouette Cameo expert. I don’t want to be known for that. I enjoy the design piece of working with cutting files, for the most part. But, I feel as though it’s my duty to share something with you when I run into an issue or success. You’d do the same, right?

The Problem I Faced

Anyway, I was busy working on a tutorial that I was recording to share here on my blog. I was super excited because the new Silhouette Cameo cutting mats arrived in the mail and I could finally use them.

Darn it, I was having problems with this project and decided that rather than using my thicker cardstock, I would use some cheap copy paper.

Big mistake!

Know what happened? The darn stuff ripped and tore as I tried to remove it from my Silhouette Cameo cutting mat. Nothing is more frustrating than ruining something you worked hard on creating.

How to Keep Silhouette Cutting Mat from Tearing Paper

So, my tip is to use a t-shirt and rub it on your mat. Try to de-sticky it a little before you use it. And, use thicker cardstock and vinyl for your first few uses with the new mat. I promise you’ll thank me.
