Spotlight on SVG Crafter Aimee from Coast + Cane
Every so often I come across a fun shop on Etsy that uses my work and I have to tell you all about them!
This month’s spotlight is on one of my friends, Aimiee and her super fun sign shop on Etsy, Coast + Cane. I think you will love her work!
Let’s Meet Aimee
Tell me what your shop’s focus is about, what do you sell and who are your target shoppers?
I currently sell rustic farmhouse style signs. My target shoppers are females that range from 30-45 years of age.
What made you want to create your own shop with your own handmade goods?
I had a photography business for 8 years and I was ready to try my hand at something else that was creative. I was always fascinated with woodworking, and we owned A LOT of wood working equipment. My husband had to teach me how to do everything from using an orbital sander to a miter saw. I take great pleasure in making something with your hands and having someone appreciate it as much as you do by purchasing the item.
How long have you been in business?
I opened my Etsy shop late 2015, but had no clue what I was doing! My shop didn’t start to take off speed until late 2016 as I learned more about SEO and listing more signs.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what would be the one craft tool you would need to survive?
Hmmm….a knife?! It would help me to survive AND be a source of entertainment. I could whittle wood or something LOL.
What do you wish people knew about you?
That I am not as strange as I seem. I appreciate that I am different and I wouldn’t dare change that for someone. You either get me or you don’t.
What music do you craft away to?
I actually watch movies and tv series instead!
What is the last tv show you watched and why?
I just finished watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It was recommended to me by a friend whenever I asked for suggestions on tv shows to stream while I work. It was a really great show and empowering for females!
What is your favorite holiday to craft for?
My favorite holiday is Halloween. Every year I put out a big display in front of our house. My husband hand strings a 9ft by 7ft spider web and I make all sorts of things like bats, tomb stones, cemetery fencing, spiders, you name it!
Where would you like to see your small business in 5 years?
I would like to see it get bigger! I would love to grow it by incorporating different products that fit my branding.
Got a good quote for other Etsy sellers to help inspire them?
You can doooo it!! (in my best Rob Schneider impression). Seriously though, you can do it! If you have the drive and you want to be successful, just do it already. Commit to it and put the time in.
Thanks, Aimee! Let’s take a look at some of her beautiful work.
