Spotlight on SVG Crafter Crystal from Life Love Creations
Every so often I come across a fun shop on Etsy that uses my work and I have to tell you all about them!
This month’s spotlight is on one of my Creative Team Members, Crystal! Crystal has really cute products in her Etsy shop and I think you will love them!
Let’s Meet Crystal
Tell me what your shop’s focus is about, what do you sell and who are your target shoppers?
My shop focuses on items for life’s special moments, so I create anything from party decor to baby clothing to wedding and home gifts. Really, anything to help celebrate special occasions. My target audience is primarily female, late 20’s and beyond, who enjoy commemorating life’s moments with custom-made items.
What made you want to create your own shop with your own handmade goods?
My shop began at a bridal shower, of all places. I had started creating frames as wedding gifts for friends and was asked by a few people where they could buy their own. I told them I made the frames, and they asked if they could order. My shop has come a long way since then (and I rarely create that item anymore – except as wedding gifts for friends/family), but I still enjoy creating one-of-a-kind custom gifts when given the opportunity by my customers.
How long have you been in business?
I consider my shop “officially” being in business since last October – so just over a year. However, I opened my Etsy shop (the very same day as that bridal shower) back in 2012. It wasn’t until October of 2016 that I truly began to see it as more than a hobby and began expanding.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what would be the one craft tool you would need to survive?
Washi tape. It’s like duct tape, but with way more color options!
What do you wish people knew about you?
That I really don’t have it all together. Gosh, who does? I try to be as honest as I can (even via social media), but I think we all struggle in our own ways, and I honestly wish more of us shared that. This relates to so many things – motherhood, being a small business owner, family life, etc. I’m nothing if not honest (sometimes to a fault), but I really appreciate when someone shares their reality. You never know who could benefit from a few simple, honest words. I wish more of us shared the “real” stuff with each other sometimes.
What music do you craft away to?
Honestly, most nights I don’t listen to anything. I spend 9-5 in an office environment, rush home to spend time with my family, and once my daughter is in bed, I begin crafting. There’s so much noise in my day-to-day that most days I just enjoy the silence. Though, if I do turn on music, it’s typically country or acoustic-anything.
What is the last tv show you watched and why?
Fuller House. As cheesy as it is, I love it. It’s mindless and silly, and allows me to just watch without thinking too much. Last show I binge-watched was Stranger Things, though.
What is your favorite holiday to craft for?
Do birthdays count? I love making decorations for parties/birthdays, especially my daughter’s. This shop began because I decided to create much of my own wedding decor, so that love of party decor is still with me today!
Where would you like to see your small business in 5 years?
I’d love to see it grow even more than it has already this year, but with a slightly different focus. In 2018 I’m planning to head in the party decor direction a bit more. I’ve always loved planning parties/events, and enjoy the tiniest decor details. I’m that person who truly looks at and truly appreciates the smallest details of a party (especially weddings). I have a passion for helping people bring their party decor vision to life, and hope to be doing more of that in the near future. In 5 years, I see myself working more one-on-one to design event details for clients. Everything from signage to cake toppers to custom party favors!
Got a good quote for other Etsy sellers to help inspire them?
You can do anything, but not everything. – David Allen (my current mantra as I head into 2018)
Thanks, Crystal! Let’s take a look at some of her beautiful work.
